Barrel tuner - do I need one? Do they work?

To barrel tuner or not to barrel tuner? Today I look at the functinality of adding this to my FX Impact. The longer the barrel the bigger the shift with the barrel tuner. FX barrels are very sensitive to weight and this impacts the harmonics.
