Once is a fluke - repeatable is something else. Proving the Sheridan Silver Streak & Zan slugs mix!

My first exposure to a Sheridan airgun happened along the Root River Parkway in the southern suburbs of Milwaukee. I was 12 or 13 years old. Massive flocks of blackbirds were roosting along the River and we were determined to do something about it.
The .177 cal Daisy 880 we had really wasn’t up to the task, but we met a guy with a .20 cal multipump who was dropping birds as fast as he could pump that airgun back up.
We had never witnessed anything so powerful or so accurate, and we were so smitten that by the time we got home we couldn’t even remember the brand of the air rifle. Of course, there were no shops we could get to, and no internet with which to research, so it was filed away as one of those memories that my buddy and I would refer to as though it were a myth.
Well, I’m older now, and have acquired not just one but three of the Sheridan Streaks, two from the Racine factory and one from the 80’s under the Benjamin/Sheridan label.
Anyway, my friends at Zan Projectiles sent me some of their 15 grain, .20 caliber slugs to try in my 50+ year old Silver Streak. I’ve documented the testing over on Instagram. If you want to check the posts out look for @pj_clarke on the app.
The preliminary results were positive, that the airgun could push the slugs with sufficient velocity and precision to make an ethical shot worth taking, given the right opportunity. Such an opportunity presented itself and I was able to quickly, safely and humanely dispatch a squirrel on my property. But results are only really results if they are repeatable, and that’s what this video is about.
It’s pest control, but there no way to hook up a scope cam to a Williams peep sight, so it’s stills and analysis. But if your in to classes airguns, it may still be worth a look.
And if you have a Classic Sheridan .20 cal, maybe pick up some of these slugs and give them a try.
