GEESE HUNTING WITH RIFLE | PT-1 I HUNTER VERSUS GEESE PROBLEM I GEESE HUNTING 2023

Geese hunting with rifle is the most popular way a hunter takes care of a geese problem in South Africa. This is my first geese hunting 2023 adventure and i find myself on a farm that has a overpopulated geese pest problem. I am armed with a Howa 223 Centerfire rifle and loaded up with 53gn vmax Hornady geese hunting cartridges. Geese hunting with rifle is not easy and it takes a big amount of skill and ballistic knowledge to do hunting like this. For this geese problem i use a the cover of a small man made hide from where i do the geese hunting. The two geese species i am targeting on this geese hunting pest job is egyptian geese and sperwing geese. The egyptian geese are indigenous to South Africa and their numbers has exploded over the last few years. It is necessary to control this numbers by doing geese hunting with a rifle or otherwise the geese problem with go out of hand.
In South Africa most of the pest control on geese is done by geese hunting with rifle. The rifle used in this pest control gees hunting is the Howa 223. This caliber and gun setup is perfect for geese hunting. The geese hunting ammo i use is a self loaded cartridge with a 53 Grain Hornady vmax bullet that is perfect for varmint hunting. To do geese hunting with a rifle is more suited for me due to that there is no space to use a shotgun safely in this area. The geese is also very clever in this regard and wont allow me to come close. For this reason geese hunting with a rifle is more suited.
This pest control geese hunt job was to get rid of the pest problem and not to harvest the geese for meat. All the geese that was hunted was donated to the farm back for own use.
For this geese hunting pest control job i asked a good friend of mine Barend Nell to join me. It is always great to do geese hunting with a rifle with him. He is a experienced hunter and has a lot of knowledge doing this style of geese hunting.
This video also is the first field test of the Element Helix HDLR 2-16 SFP. I really found using it for geese hunting with a rifle very good. It has really good optics and a large amount of features that suites geese hunting very well. All the geese hunting that was done on this day was also recorded through my go pro side shot system. The geese hunting footage was really good filmed through the new Element Helix HDLR. This geese hunting with rifle is a two part video and the second one of this geese hunting 2023 will follow soon.
