YouTube bans Airgun Hunting Videos
Feb 25th 2018 My name is Jim Chapman, and I’ve been a YouTube content provider since 2010. I want to tell you a little bit about me, my channel, and why I have privatized my channel. I have spent my professional life working in clinical R&D involved with cardiovascular imaging and informatics. My other interests, have been related to outdoor activities: hunting, fishing, backpacking, and kayaking. While living in Europe, I became interested in Airguns and Airgun hunting and have worked towards sharing this sport through print, online, and TV My channel, the American Airgun Hunter, has grown over the years with the intention of sharing my hunting adventures, while promoting an approach that respects the game, the regulations based on sound ecological and environmental principles, and safe and intelligent gun handling. Through this time, I have had the opportunity to meet and interact with a community populated with ethical hunters, responsible shooters, and a generally quality people from around the globe. Recently, there has been a concerted effort to shut down channels that support hunting or shooting sports. The policies being applied to drive this agenda have been hidden from content developers, and the appeal process has been severely lacking on many levels. In the past week several channels have been shut down in what seems an arbitrary fashion, companies that provide the livelihood for many people. AoA, PA, Hatsan, Umarex, Daystate, American Airgunner, and many others. These companies are well run, pay taxes, provide jobs, promote responsible use of their products, and are the victims of a poorly thought out and poorly executed strategy that I think is aimed at removing videos that ignorant "reviewers" associate with the bad people doing bad things that we have all sadly seen occur recently in the news. My hope is that at some point that YouTube will undertake a reasoned evaluation that look logically at channels dealing with the legal and ethical use of Airguns for competition, target shooting and hunting. In the meantime, though I have no strikes by/from YouTube, have decided to privatize my channel until some level of sanity is applied, and the policies YouTube wishes to apply are clearly articulated. In the meanwhile, I will stay in touch with you all through my regular magazine articles in Predator xtreme and Airgunner, as well as many other publications I regularly contribute to. Also, please visit my website at http://www.americanairgunhunter.com I’ll use other hosting services for my videos until we know its safe to open up the content of our channels without unfair targeting on YouTube Update: As I was uploading this video I was given a community strike for an older video, so it looks like this is a wake-up call for us to look for another video host. -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Please watch: "Seneca Eagle Claw on the Prowl for Abert's Tree Squirrel" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bfkfr...
