Oct 17th 2019 http://www.youtube.com/c/americanairg... Airgun Hunting: In this airgun hunt the lever action .25 caliber Seneca Eagle Claw is on the Prowl for Abert's Tree Squirrel! This is the 4th installment on my 2019 squirrel hunting series, and sees me capping the grand slam, having taken gray and fox squirrels in Minnesota, then a black color phase squirrel in Northern Wisconsin, and (spoiler alert) Abert's in Arizona. Some of my friends think I'm crazy traveling hours by car and plane to hunt small game many view as a pest species..... but I enjoy small game hunting with an airgun and think it's all about the challenge. And you can make squirrels hunting into the type of hunt you want, from easy to hard. The Seneca Eagle Claw performed well for me: this lever action PCP air rifle was set up to generate about 50ish fpe for up to 30 shots, but when tested with heavy pellets I was getting about 70 fpe. The accuracy was very good, and it shot pretty well for me off hand as well as rested. The hunt was tough, weather was good (too good) but squirrels were not moving, at the end of the day I had only seen five and took four of those. They were found both up in the highest branches and on the ground. As an aside, the next day as I was driving out of the mountains I went through another area I'd found in my google map search, and saw more squirrels in an hour of driving down a forestry dirt road than I'd seen the previous day. The weather had turned, it got cold, and the squirrels got moving. I'm off to Texas next for a number of big game hunts.......but I will surly get more squirrel in throughout the fall and winter!
