Dec 27th 2017 Airgun Hunting: feral Hogs with a .40 caliber air rifle! In this video I take the Badger .40 caliber air rifle to Texas on a hog hunt. The Badger was released by Airgun Depot last year, and is one of the few budget priced big bore airgun that delivers on performance. The rifle shares many dimensional similarities to the QB series small bore guns, and fits in the same stocks, I’ve switched mine out for a Richards Microfit thumbhole stock, which is inletted for the Badgers reservoir dimensions. My gun is generating about 300 fpe, and shoots best with the 186 grain Mr Hollowpoint bullet. I’ve now taken deer, hogs, javalina, and coyote with this rifle and bullet, and think it’s a great field gun. It has a single bolt used to both open the loading port and to cock the rifle. The Badger can be decocked for safety when on the move. I am filling my rifle to 3200 psi, and the gun fills via a quick release fitting. On this hunt I hike into a feeder late afternoon on arriving at the ranch. About 30 minutes after setting up a sounder of small pigs moved in, with no shooters being seen initially. But then, a big mean sow came busting her way in, and this 125 lb hog was definitely a shooter! The bullet impacted right below the pig’s ear, and she rolled over and outside a little twitching, did not move again! The rifle delivered with respect to power and accuracy, and if you want a great hunting rifle at an entry level price point, you should check this rifle out!
